REVIEW: Dream Baby Cable Lock and No Tools-No Screws Safety Kit

When I was offered some Dream Baby Safety Supplies for the house, I realized that it couldn't have come at a better time for us. Little Man isn't quite walking, but he is crawling, climbing and getting into absolutlely everything imaginable!

I received a Cable Lock and a Household Safety Kit in exchange for a review.

Although Little Man isn't at the age where we need a combination lock on something, Bunny certainly is. This product is great for keeping things like medications locked up from curious children! I love how it is adjustable too, it makes it even that much more versatile.

To be absolutely honest, the Household Safety Kit hasn't been much use to us yet5/7. I was going to use one of the multi-purpose latches on one of our small, free standing cabinets, but we ended up needing to block that whole area off with a gate instead (he's just too sneaky and into everything). I did like the idea that the latches are flexible and they come in two sizes. The adhesives allow for such a simple and quick installation!

One thing I've learned as a Mom is that one can never have too many outlet plugs! I've had to use them in our house, my inlaws house, my parents' house and the cottage. That's a lot of outlets to cover, so the fact that some came in the household safety kit was great, they are a must!

I take a different approach on some aspects of household safety than some do. Because I am home with the kids all day long, I am very aware of what they get into and what they don't. I keep a VERY close eye on them at all times. Please don't take this the wrong way, of course I am going to keep things like poisons and medications up high and/or locked up no matter what, however, I'm not the type to go and put cabinet locks on every single kitchen cabinet. So, truthfully, we haven't had a need for all of this kit quite yet, however I do see a need coming very soon.

I want to mention as well that I am a true believer in educating children about what is safe and unsafe and the reasons. Bunny and I have had numerous discussions about poisons, what they look like and what they are used for. I have explained to her what they can do to us if we use them the wrong way. When I use a poison and Bunny sees me, I show her what it looks like and I talk to her about why it is dangerous and why it is only for adults (and that even adults must take precautions). We talk often about medications (even vitamins) and how dangerous it is to share them. We have discussed the importance of following directions on a bottle and what can happen to your body if you take too much. I hope that by education our children like this, we will help them to not only understand that poison and medication is off limits to children, but WHY they are.

The foam door stopper is a must in our house to prevent those little fingers from getting caught in a door, especially when we have our front door open to get a little bit of air circulation. They are great because they are high out of the baby's reach yet they don't have to be installed and they serve their purpose.

I plan on using the appliance latch on our fridge because even though Bunny didn't manage to open our fridge until she was over 3, Little Man loves his food and has already tried (he's just not quite strong enough).

So although I despise Safety Gadgets, they definitely are a necessity. I am learning that this is the case much more so with Little Man than with Bunny. Dream Baby has many options for Household Safety and children, be sure to check them out!

    REVIEW: Potty Pony Pals

When my daughter was just starting to potty train, I didn't like using the traditional pull up diapers (except at night) because I felt like they really weren't much different than the feel of a diaper and this didn't give her the feel that she needed.

I searched the earth looking for cotton training pants and could only find one type (that worked, but weren't super).

Since then, a company called Potty Pony Pals has approached me and sent me a pair of the Pony Pals in exchange for a review.

Although Little Man isn't quite ready to start potty training, although admittedly I was curious to try EC (elimination communication) with him, but seriously, who has time for that?

Having said that, I have given a good look at these Pony Pals and I am super excited to give them a real try.

After taking a good look at them, I am very happy with the quality of these training pants. They are super thick and very soft. Another great aspect is that they are made from 100% organically grown cotton and they are made with low impact dye.

The gimic of the "potty pony" is that there is a picture of the pony in the crotch of the underwear. The idea is that you keep this pony dry. He doesn't like to get wet. I love it how kids go for little things like this. Sometimes that is all the motivation that they need in order to stay dry!

The "training kit" also comes with a DVD for the child to watch, another great motivator!

REVIEW: SoCozy Hair Products for Kids

With Bunny going off to JK, the natural breeding ground for lice, I have been particularly interested in hair products that are designed to repel the lice in a natural way. I cringe at the thought of lice. I cringe even more at the thought of having to put really nasty chemicals into my daughter's hair if she gets lice (please cross your fingers that she doesn't).

I recently discovered a company called So Cozy that makes products for children's hair called Boo Lice Repel Products. The products contain no harsh chemicals and no parabens.

I received two mini samples (we're talking the size of a quarter) from So Cozy to try out. Because they were so small, we were only able to get two uses out of them, but from what we used, we definitely did like them.

We tried out the Styling Cream and the Boo Shampoo.

    REVIEW: Febreeze Home Collection

A little while ago, I received a package of Febreze Home Collection products. I got the Febreze Flameless Luminaire, Febreze Scented Reed Diffuser and Febreze Soy Candle.

What I liked most about these products is the look of them. Often products that you can buy from the grocery store to make your home smell more inviting are very, well...plastic looking. You know what I mean? The Febreze Home Collection certainly doesn't look tacky at all, in my opinion. In fact, they could easily be said to add to the decor of your home with taste.

Febreze Home Collection offers some new scents and while they are lovely scents (my favourite was the Cranberry Pear Soy Candle), they are rather overpowering. Having said that, the candle is great because when it is not in use, you don't smell it. You can even use the base of the candle as a lid! However, the other two products are made to give scent to your home 24/7 and both me and my hubby found the scents much too strong, to the point where I actually got a headache from one of them.

I am constantly on the look out for products that smell pretty, but that I don't have to smell all of the time. The Soy Candle certainly helped me to achieved this goal.

I really liked the idea of the Flamelss Luminaire. With having young children in the house, I don't tend to light candles very often, but the Luminaire allowed us to have the elegant look of a candle without the fire hazard. We did find the scent much too strong, however.

    REVIEW: Paci Plushies

If only I had known about Paci Plushies when Little Man was a wee infant! I can't tell you the number of times we lost a pacifier in the car, under the crib or behind the change table. If we had had a Paci Plushie, we wouldn't have lost the pacifiers.

I honestly think that these little animals that hold a pacifier are the best invention ever! Long gone are the days where you are searching and searching in the dark for a tiny, little pacifier! The animal allows you to keep track of your baby's pacifier with ease and it gives your child something to hold onto.

We received Paisley the Panda, who in my opinion works best for a new baby as it is high contrast with black and white colours.

Paci Plushies are super easy for babies to hold, are safe (baby safe and BPA and phthalate free) and are compatible with most name brand pacifiers.
